We enjoyed listening to your song “Second Life”. What is the story behind the song and how did you create/write it? Also, what inspired the song title?
Thanks, when I wrote this song, I had the image of Tim Robbins in my head. Crawling from the sewer to freedom in The Shawshank Redemption. I like the idea of weather as an image for change and I played with this idea in the lyrics. Somebody is going through some horrible situation and they are praying for a godsent storm to blow away their troubles. A “Second life” is what they are hoping for, a reincarnation into a trouble-free life. I’m sad to say that for this poor soul it doesn’t quite work in their favour.
If you had to describe your sound, how would you do so? Furthermore, what artists (or other sources) do you cite as influences?
We just call it pop music or alternative these days. We used to call ourselves dystopop because songs often have dystopic undertones but that just confused people even more.
Like all bands, we listen to a wide range of music so it’s hard to pinpoint exactly who is influencing what. Almost the whole band studied jazz at university (and the rest classical/live electronics) so you can’t deny the influence that has had on our sound.

What have been career highlights so far? And what is on your bucket list that you’d want to achieve?
A few years ago, we got to play support for Meridian Brothers in Paradiso in Amsterdam. We love that band, so it was an honour to play with them. The vinyl we just released also feels like a bit of a milestone. The corona virus has humbled our bucket list somewhat. We are just keen to get playing live again. We are currently trying to plan something for the end of the year in Germany. Fingers crossed!
If you could be the main support for any living artist, who would that be for and why? Alternatively, what would be your dream live booking?
I think I’d have to choose Bjork. In my dreams we double as the horn section for one of her tours. She is an artist I have followed my whole life and I have loved watching her morph through the years. I love it that she chooses a very clear concept for every album/tour that is always so beautiful, fun and crazy all at once.
What artists have you been listening to? Additionally, who should others be listening to?
We have been loving Aquaserge, Juana Molina, Department of Eagles, Arooj Aftab and Palm lately. We also went through a Jockstrap phase recently, love the production of their stuff. Linus has recently discovered King Crimson and we are both Remy Wolf fans.
