We enjoyed discovering you song “The Phoenix Never Dies“. What is the story behind the song and how did you create/write it? Also, what inspired the song title?
The Phoenix never dies; have a hint of the actual legendary bird with its way of dying to be reborn. Every day, we go through different steps in our life, right now We are all living something that we would have never expected, and all of us had to adapt, change our old habits or routines, to become another version of our own person. In these lyrics I talk about how you can reach your goals even if the path had changed. It’s only challenges, not the end of it.
If you had to describe your sound, how would you do so? Furthermore, what artists (or other sources) do you cite as influences?
The moods vary through the song, mixing some “soft Rock” to make the listener feel the moments of “difficulties or challenges”, then I added some “Funky touches” to bright up the atmosphere and give you a lighter feeling of “hope”. There are many musicians that inspire me in my everyday writing, it’s not easy to only put a few names.
What inspired the video and what ideas did you have for it? Is there a message that you hope it delivers?
The video for this track is inspired by the events of 2020. The video represents how as a musician we saw from one day to another, the places we used to perform at, close and not reopen. But this didn’t stop us from sharing our music, by adapting to the situation and keeping the Flame burning bright.
I would like to say a special thank you to Camy Myles and Rens Königs for making and directing the video.
What have been career highlights so far? And what is on your bucket list that you’d want to achieve?
Being able to travel from my music has definitely been a highlight and an inspiration, visiting new places such as Tahiti, Germany, UK, Venice in Italy… Getting to know the places with the local people has inspired my music. My top point on my bucket list is for my music to reach others with my lyrics, like music helped me in my life. But of also being able to live from the income of my original songs is what I want to achieve.
If you could be the main support for any living artist, who would that be for and why? Alternatively, what would your dream live booking be?
I would support Camy Myles, because she deserves to be heard for her lyrics and clever catchy choruses, for her voice and tenacity to get things done. Seeing her grow through her music, as her step-dad I will carry on being as supportive to see her succeed.
What artists have you been listening to? Additionally, who should others be listening to?
Well, It varies on my day and mood, like everyone I guess; the list is long, but to summarize; AC/DC, since I have grown up listening to them and strumming on my first guitar the chords of their well-known songs. Richie Kotzen, Coldplay, Red hot chili Peppers, but also some Lewis Capaldi….Like I mentioned it before, they are many more.
