You have just released your new single “Honey”. What is the story behind the song and how did you create/write it? Also, what inspired the song title?
“Honey” started off as a guitar part that our guitarist Alek came up with as he was relaxing in the back garden on a lovely Scottish summers day…suddenly a bolt of lighting emitted from the cloud’s above and projected the 12 string riff you can hear in the intro of the song, thank you Thor, it’s much appreciated. Lyrically, we like to leave our songs wide open to public interpretation, for example to one person it might mean the trials and tribulations of trying to swoon a potential partner at a night club… but for most of us we all know its about a local bee-keeper who has just put in a hard days graft, wants to sit down, have a cuppa and enjoy some sweet honey on a bit of toast. We came up with the title “Honey’ in particular because the line ‘’if you want some come and get some raspberry jam’’ just didn’t have the same ring to it.
If you had to describe your sound, how would you do so? Furthermore, what artists (or other sources) do you cite as influences?
We would describe our music as feel good, bluesy rock. All of us individually have lots of random influences ranging from Tommy Wiseau to Mariah Carey. For the most part thought, we are heavily influenced by Reef, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Led Zeppelin and Free.
What have been band highlights so far? And what is on your bucket list that you’d want to achieve?
An enormous highlight for us was opening up to a sold out show with Jared James Nichols at The Garage at the start of last year. We had an absolute blast at that show and CANNOT WAIT to play live again for you all. Another highlight for sure was slapping a cardboard moustache on our bassist Shaun and allowing him to be Samuel L Jackson for the day. If your curious, this phenomenon occurs in our music video for our song ‘Fight or Flight’, Sammy would be proud.

If you could be the main support for any living artist, who would that be for and why? Alternatively, what would be your dream live booking?
I think all of us in the band would agree that to open up to Foo Fighters would be absolutely crazy, who doesn’t love Dave Grohl, plus eh… a wee stadium would be alright too. On a slightly more realistic note, to one day play a show with Rival Sons would be a dream come true. They have influenced and inspired us tremendously as a band throughout the years, so yeah…Rival Sons, look out, WE ARE COMING FOR YOU.
What artists have you been listening to? Additionally, who should others be listening to?
As a collective we listen to a very wide variety of music, Alek and Jake have both been binging Anderson. Paak lately. His drumming while singing skills are absolutely off the charts, it is a complete joy to watch. Definitely check out his latest project with Bruno Mars “Silk Sonic” their tune “leave the door open” is officially what we call in the business a “bop”. Our local resident Basser Shaun is always riding the Vulfpeck train, they always deliver the most insane funky goodness. As for Griff and Clayton…. they are tapping in to interstellar cosmic frequencies that only a being with either a hat and sunglasses or a massive 88 key surfboard could intercept…AKA ‘’Call me maybe’’ by Carly Rae Jepson.
