You have just released your debut single “Rise Up”. What is the story behind the song and how did you create/write it? Also, what inspired the song title?
Rise Up is really about that special someone who has helped you turn your life around and in turn you are offering your life basically as a thank you, when you think about it, where would we be if we didn’t have that influential person in our lives? The song was one of the first songs we wrote at the start of the LCR project, we chose it because it acts as a bridge between our old sound in previous bands and heads towards the new electro synth sound we are after. The song title wasn’t just inspired by the chorus of the song but the idea behind it was more thoughtful as we felt as if we were rising up from the difficulties in 2020, better and stronger than ever before with a fresh new sound and Project.
If you had to describe your sound, how would you do so? Furthermore, what artists (or other sources) do you cite as influences?
I would describe our Sound as 80’s synth pop mixed in with 90’s dance with a hint of modern day Indie, it does vary from each song but that’s what keeps it exciting. We listen to a wide range of different styles of music, a few would be New Order, Blossoms, the XX and LCD Sound System.
What have been band highlights so far? And what is on your bucket list that you’d want to achieve? We understand that you’ve had other projects in the past – if you want to discuss any previous highlights, then feel free to.
The highlights so far are releasing ‘Rise Up’ which is available on most major music streams and being able to grow a loyal following through lockdown which is better than we ever expected. Our number one target is to headline the Barrowlands in Glasgow, we would have to see what is next after that but the Barras is top of the list for us.
If you could be the main support for any living artist, who would that be for and why? Alternatively, what would be your dream live booking?
It has to be New Order. Our obsession with them is too much and it would amazing to support them, it would definitely be one of those unforgettable moments in life.
What artists have you been listening to? Additionally, who should others be listening to?
We’ve been listening to Lucia & the Best Boys, Soulwax remixes especially the remix of A hero’s death, West Lothian lads Dictator, they have a fair amount of cracking tunes, Bronski Beat…. The list goes on. I would say though we tune in to a lot of shows that we have found through the brilliant Twitter music community that is out there which has provided an amazing platform for up and coming artists. People like Dan Potter, Ricky Spence, Shiner Sam, Ady Hanson, @livesformusic, apologies to anyone I have missed but they’re all part of this great online community who are championing unsigned artists and it is such a pleasure to be part of it.
