“Emergency Song” by Midlight

“Emergency Song” by Midlight: a rather enigmatic song that, despite sounding quite minimalist, has layers of subtle sound that makes for a robust song. Featuring vocals that sound as though they have hints of the Middle East and/or India, bringing to mind, at times, the vocals of Robert Plant on the song ‘Kashmir‘ by Led Zeppelin – it’s a refreshing direction to go.

The warm bass and bright acoustic guitar act as the musical glue that holds all the parts together, whilst flourishes of strings emerge and quickly fade, creating an eerie, haunting atmosphere that further captivates the listener, enticing them to keep listening to discover how the song resolves itself. Thoroughly enjoyable: the eccentricity, ambition, and vibrant style of the band and their music marks them as a band with an exciting musical vision.
