“Eyeliner” by Freya and The Vikings

Australian septet rock group, Freya and The Vikings, made a lasting impression on us with their debut single ‘Entertainment’ and have further convinced us of their upward trajectory via their follow-up single ‘Eyeliner’ which captivates the listener through the song’s energy, confident singing style, and warm-sounding mix.

Fans of modern rock will find that the band’s sound honours classic rock without sounding cliched or retro: this is particularly exemplified by the groups catchy lyrics that clearly have the potential to be sung loudly at their live shows, without sounding forced or cheesy – this songwriting talent elevates Freya and The Vikings from the plethora of rock bands out there that sometimes stray into songwriting pitfalls. At our own risk of sounding shallow with the comparison, fans of US-rockers Halestorm may well dig Freya and The Vikings and, should they ever tour Australia, they’d have a strong, well-fitting support ready and waiting.

Our appreciation of Freya and The Vikings has further increased and we eagerly await their next release and hope that we may have the opportunity of an advanced preview or interview with the group to hear more about themselves and their plans for 2026.

The band’s Spotify biography confidently declares: “Seven members. Three lead vocalists. One massive, melodic rock sound. Freya and The Vikings are Melbourne’s answer to the question: ‘What happened to Rock that actually feels huge?’ Drawing on nostalgic 80’s and 90’s energy and pushing it through a modern, atmospheric lens, we create music for the fast drives and nights you won’t forget. Our 15-song debut Album is landing in 2026. The Vikings have arrived. Join the voyage, play it loud!”
