“People Pleaser” by Blue Boys Club (a possible contender to the Blue Man Group) fuse punk with a dance-beat and reverb-laden guitars to create a distinctive sound that could quickly become their sonic signature.
Along with the band’s own sound, the music video showcases their wit and keen sense of humour. Visually, this could trigger PTSD for anyone with past experience of working in retail, office, or similar environment shown in the video, whilst for others it may appear more like The Office-meets-Punk. Either way, the video is great and we love it: from the colouring and whole aesthetic look, it really captures that sense of mundanity and pleasing customers and clients whilst selling one’s soul to the corporate machine in order to sustain oneself within an ever-polarised capitalist society.
In the UK, BBC usually refers to the British Broadcasting Corporation, though we’re fully onboard for it to now relate to the Blue Boys Club instead as a more music-focused reference and keenly anticipate future songs and videos from the band.
