Released at the start of this year, “Rusty Box” by Switzerland-based band Barock Rain shows that good music is timeless. The strong opening line of “apologies, I overslept”, instantly resonated with us and we grew to love the song even more as it progressed with each passing second.
This song has a fantastically dark alt-rock style to it, with dark, crooning vocals that blend seamlessly into the mix, though have just the right amount of clarity for new listeners to follow the lyrics alongside the tasteful lead guitar that further reels you into the rich layers of this song until it delivers a glorious guitar solo that combines technicality, musicianship, and melody, thereby treating listeners to something fresh and exciting whilst also serving the song well and thus using self-moderation.
Against these melodies, you have pounding drums and a warm bass with succinct clarity, with both of these holding down the low-end, and time-keeping, side of things very well. Both the style and tone further adds to the rich-sounding mix and keep the song ever driving forward.
“Rusty Box” has released in January ahead of the band’s debut album titled “Getting There”. Listen to Barock Rain’s discography below and follow them on socials.
